  Stopping IMS 12.1
 </h2>
 <div class="ibm-container-body">
  <p>
   If possible, notify all users that IMS is to be terminated and
   when it will occur. This allows users to complete their work,
   or at least reach a convenient stopping point. Issue
   /BROADCAST ACTIVE as much in advance of termination as possible.
   If you have users on the system and you wish to notify that IMS
   is coming down use:
   <br /><br />
   <strong>##,/BRO ACTIVE 'TERMINATING'.</strong>
   (the period is required)
   <br /><br />
   <strong>**NOTE</strong>
   If your entering the commands from the SDSF log you will need to
   put a "/" in front of the commands.
   ## should  be the number associated to the IMS outstanding reply.
  </p>
  <h2 class="ibm-inner-subhead">
   There are several ways to stop IMS:
  </h2>
   <p>
    To terminate the control region <strong>without</strong> dumping the
    message queues.
    </p>
   <p>
    <strong>##,/CHE SNAPQ</strong>
    <br /><br />
    <strong>##,/CHE FREEZE</strong>
    <br /><br />
    DFS994I IMS SHUTDOWN COMPLETED
    </p>
   <p>
    To terminate the control region <strong>and dump the message queues
    </strong>, use either <strong>ONE</strong> of these commands.
    <br /><br />
    <strong>##,/CHE DUMPQ</strong> or <strong>##,/CHE PURGE</strong>
    </p>
   <p>
    <strong>
    Please review all the above commands in the IMS Sample Operating
    Procedures
    </strong>
    <br /><br />
    Once you have stopped IMS you need to stop IRLM:
   </p>
  <h2 class="ibm-inner-subhead">P IMS12RL1</h2>
   <p>
    You should see the following messages:
    <br /><br />
    DXR110I IRLM001 STOP COMMAND ACCEPTED
    <br />
    $HASP395 IMS12RL1 ENDED
    <br /><br />
    The proc should match which ever version of IMS your stopping.
   </p>
