z/VM Personal User ID Password Rules

The IBM Z ISV Development Programs team remains committed to prioritize the security of your systems.
With the implementation of z/VM 7.3 SSI, a stricter enforcement of the existing password rules for all z/VM Personal User IDs has been implemented. A password structure that previously may have worked for you will no longer be accepted.
See the password rules below.

Password Rules

  1. Must be eight characters in length.
  2. Must only contain alphabetic, numeric, and national ($, # and @) characters.
  3. Must have at least one alphabetic and one non-alphabetic character (numeric or special characters).
  4. Must have the first and last characters be non-numeric.
  5. Cannot be reused until after at least eight iterations.
